On April 21st 2009, WiN-J received an award from Atomic Energy Society of Japan (AESJ) for its contribution to historical construction and activities in nuclear field. This award was presented at ceremony held at Sankei plaza, Tokyo for celebrating 50th anniversary of the foundation of AESJ.
The purpose of this award is to present to those who achieved significant performance in contributing to prosper the development of nuclear field. This first year, 65 items were awarded. Since the Chernobyl incident, general public have concerns and fears about nuclear energy and radiation. To deal and overcome this issue, WiN was found in 1993 to make the public, especially women, aware of the benefits of nuclear and radiation applications and of the safety that ensures protection of the public environment. The assigned members are women, working professionally in various fields of nuclear energy and radiation applications. Our mission is as follows;
After the foundation of WiN-J in 2000, national members started working on full-scale basis. Though there are only small group of women working in nuclear field, our continued participation of wide-range activities made it possible to share information with various assigned members’ industry as well as networking community.
We are honored to receive such an award, and would like to express our gratitude to all whom supported us.
