About WiN-Japan

WiN-Japan moves in accordance with the policy of WiN Global as follows.

About WiN-G

Women in Nuclear Global (WiN-G) is an international organization of women who are working with nuclear energy and radiation applications in both industry and academia. From the perspective of promoting peaceful usage of nuclear energy, WiN-G aims to make the public, especially women and young people, understand the benefits of nuclear energy. To accomplish this purpose, members of WiN-G strive toward higher achievement by exchanging information on research outcomes, nuclear technology and radiation applications, and on developing technologies to improve our own abilities.

About the Organization

WiN-G was established in Europe in 1993, now consisting of approximately 2,000 members from 68 countries, and follows the direction of a board composed of representatives from its member countries.
Women in Nuclear Japan (WiN-J) was formed as a Japanese chapter of WiN-G in 2000, consists of approximately 200 members, and is led by its own president and board members.

About Our Activities

WiN-G aims to enable women in nuclear and radiation - related fields to improve their capabilities and to widen their sphere of activity, as well as to make the public and young people aware of the benefits of nuclear energy and its radiation applications. For instance, at the annual meeting members network and exchange technical information through presentations on their research, and new technology, and public relation activities, as well as by joining technical tours. Additionally, WiN-G members participate in international conferences related to nuclear and radiation technologies, making presentations and doing poster session in order to spread information about nuclear energy. Following the principles of WiN-G, WiN-J strives to promote activities that increase public acceptance for nuclear energy and develop members’ abilities by adapting to Japanese culture. The town hall meeting for women where nuclear energy utilities are located is one that relies on grass-roots activities conducted by WiN-J members. At such a meeting, opinions are exchanged in person between the women in that area and the women of WiN-J.
